MOTHER’S DAY RECYCLED GIFT IDEAS!

COFFEE CAN CD WIND CHIME

Here’s what you’ll need to make a coffee can cd wind chime

  • Coffee Can (label off)
  • Old CDs
  • TWO coffee can lids
  • one hole punch
  • fishing line(or yarn/twine etc.)
  • Sharpies (all different colours)

How to assemble:

Colour cds with an assortment of colours. Let them dry before assembling to avoid smudging. In one coffee can lid, punch as many holes as you have CDs, eyeball the spacing.

Cut a length of fishing line, and slip one end through the hole of a cd and through a hole in the coffee can lid.  Tie a knot up near the lid. Repeat this step for each cd until you have all of them attached to the lid.

Pop this lid on the bottom of the can. Take a minute to ensure any loose ends of fishing line are tucked in and hidden underneath the lid.

To hang the can, take the other lid and punch 2 holes – one across from the other near the edge of the lid. Thread a piece of fishing line through the holes.  Knot it and pop the lid back on the can.

EGG CARTON FLOWERS

Here’s what you’ll need to make an egg carton art:

  • Acrylic Paint
  • Egg Carton (not foam)
  • Paper Straw
  • Pom Poms
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paint Brush

How to assemble:

Cut out four containers out of the egg carton. Trim around the edges so that it gives it a rounder shape for the petals of the flower as seen in the photo.

Paint each section with colourful paint and let dry. Once dried attach the stem (paper straw) of the flower by gluing it to the back. Glue a pom pom to the center of the painted egg carton.

HAVE FUN!!
